40 Days of Life | Day 25 | Redemption

“But Joseph said to them, ‘Do not fear, for am I in the place of God? As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today. So do not fear; I will provide for you and your little ones.’ Thus he comforted them and spoke kindly to them.” (Genesis 50:19-21)

Joseph’s story is powerful. He went from being sold into slavery by his jealous brothers, to an influential leader, to being the only one who could provide for his family during a famine, facing countless trials in between. Many of the circumstances in Joseph’s life were unplanned. Yet he trusted in God’s faithfulness. He recognized that God used the evil done against him to bring good to others.

The story of Abby Johnson, author of Unplanned reminds me of Joseph. Her story is one of redemption. God not only transforms the person but also can transform the circumstances or even years of your life you may regret. He can turn something meant for evil into something used for good.

I love the wording of Joseph, God worked through him “so that many people should be kept alive.” He is doing that now through the testimony of Abby as she exposes truth and advocates for life.
