40 Days of Life | Day 40 | Abundant Life

On this final day before Easter I reflect on the truth in God’s word about LIFE.

Life is valuable because God is the author and giver of life. He is the fountain of life, the defender and restorer of life. Jesus came so we might have life, abundant life. He teaches us to love one another, so that our lives illuminate the darkness in this world.

Because Jesus gave his life, we can embrace hope in this life and the life to come.

The Bible is full of truths about life. I hope you will read them and know God is for life!

The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man, nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything. (Acts 17: 24-25)
How precious is your steadfast love, O God! The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings. They feast on the abundance of your house, and you give them drink from the river of your delights. For with you is the fountain of life; in your light do we see light. (Psalm 36)
The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life, of whom shall I be afraid? (Psalm 27:1)
You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. We are witnesses of this. (Acts 3:15 )
He will renew your life and sustain you in your old age. For your daughter-in-law, who loves you and who is better to you than seven sons, has given him birth. (Ruth 4:15 )
Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. (John 6:68)
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)
I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. (John 6:51)
When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”
“Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?”
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:54-57)
But if, in our endeavor to be justified in Christ, we too were found to be sinners, is Christ then a servant of sin? Certainly not! For if I rebuild what I tore down, I prove myself to be a transgressor. For through the law I died to the law, so that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:17)
So Jesus again said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. (John 10 7-11)

Amen! Happy Easter everyone! Thank you for following along on this journey during lent. It has been both challenging and encouraging. I hope it’s given you something to think about. There are so many fighting for life, defending those who cannot defend themselves, old and young. No matter the opposition, hold fast to a message that promises hope, joy, peace and LIFE.
